The Great Escape Classic Car Hire logistics team took on its biggest challenge, literally, when it was called on to move our Rolls Royce Silver Spirit from our Lincolnshire site to Worcestershire for a customer.

The 2.5 tonne British behemoth required a hefty tow vehicle and a hired heavyweight trailer to legally make the trip. Fortunately we've just bought a Mitsubishi Pajero 7 seater, which was more than up to the task of hauling over 3 tonnes of car and trailer the 100 miles from Allington to Astwood Bank.

With a fleet of 4x4s and tow vehicles and several trailers we are easily able to move cars around the country to support customers. We can also provide quick and rapid response for customers in the event of a breakdown. Although this is a rare occurrence the truck and trailer facility means we can deliver a new car to them and collect the old one with minimum fuss and in a short space of time.

It's all in a name

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire East Midlands location is a great starting point for a classic car weekend but we started to realise that the name doesn't quite do its location justice. Situated in the picturesque Vale of Belvoir in the shadow of Belvoir Castle (one of the most magnificent castles in Britain, we think), our East Midlands site is great for visiting the Lincolnshire Wolds or Derbyshire Peak District. It's also very easy to get to from London - and very convenient as few classic car hire companies serve this area. Because the Lincolnshire classic car hire site gives access to such a large and diverse area, it's been difficult to find the right name. Finally we've settled on something simple - Lincolnshire Fleet. Everyone knows where Lincolnshire is, after all. Bigger fleet in East Midlands

Great Escape Classic Car Hire has finally launched our full 2011 fleet for our new East Midlands site. It's taken a while to sort logistics but we've now got a range of classic hire cars that we think suits most tastes. Although we're still struggling to decide on a name for this new base - East Midlands is accurate but it doesn't quite express the many places you can reach quickly, such as the Derbyshire Dales and unspoilt East Coast. So we're working on it.

In the meantime, East Midlands site it is. Which is handy to get to from the M1 and A1 and easy to reach exactly those places we just mentioned.

The new East Midlands fleet includes seven classic cars ranging from a Morris Minor to a Rolls Royce and covering Aston Martin, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo and MGB in between. We've included some old favourites like the Jaguar Mk2 and MGB convertible alongside some less familiar classic hire cars, such as the Aston Martin V8 coupe and Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. Great Escape Classic Car Hire has opened its sixth UK site in the East Midlands to serve customers who want to getaway to Derbyshire, the Peak District and the Lincolnshire Fens. The new site, between the A1 and M1 near north east of Nottingham, will be hiring cars from February 2011 but customers can buy gift vouchers covering the new fleet now.
The new Great Escape fleet in the East Midlands initially includes a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit and Alfa Romeo Spider. The full fleet will be announced during November 2010 and will include classic convertibles, saloons and coupes from the 1960s to 1990s.
