Christmas wonderland with a Morris Minor

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor convertible for hire in Lincolnshire stars in a Christmas poster and advertising campaign by Clarks shoes. The car's bright red paint scheme and tan convertible top were specially selected by the production team to suit the design brief and complement the festive theme.
The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor in Lincolnshire has previous featured in episodes of the BBC's Antiques Road Trip as well as advertising campaigns for various high street brands.
"We regularly provide our cars for advertising photoshoots," explains Graham Eason of Great Escape. "This job was fairly unusual as it involved creating Christmas 2011 in March 2011."
The project involved Great Escape transporting the car to the location in London and attending the photoshoot throughout the day. The job was confirmed at short notice but Great Escape has the logistical set up to enable it to respond quickly to this type of request.

Moggy Minor cover star

Great Escape Classic Car Hire's cute 1962 Morris Minor convertible graces the cover of August's Practical Classics magazine as part of a major feature on 4 seater convertibles. The car is photographed alongside 3 other classics on the seafront in North Norfolk, a perfect setting for this most relaxing and sedate of open top tourers.
We work regularly with classic car magazines to provide cars for photoshoots. On this occasion we delivered the Morris to Peterborough using our dedicated transport facilities and then collected it a couple of days later from Kings Lynn.
The Practical Classics team were very complimentary about the car and the article mentions how the Morris consistently received the most attention throughout the shoot. Although the car didn't win the back-to-back road test, it did come second, pipped only by the larger Corsair.
"The feature looked at the best 4 seater family convertible for the summer," explains Graham Eason of Great Escape. "The Morris is a very good choice for anyone with a family because it is spacious, very easy to drive, easy to own and attracts huge amounts of attention. Our customers always report seeing the brighter side of life when they're behind the wheel."
Great Escape Classic Car Hire has three white Morris Minor convertibles available to hire in the UK, based in Worcestershire, Yorkshire and Suffolk. A red car is also available in Lincolnshire. The cars can be hired by the day, weekend or week and prices start at just £145 fully inclusive of insurance, breakdown cover and unlimited mileage.

A Merry Moggy Christmas

Great Escape Classic Car Hire got into the Christmas spirit in May when it provided one of its classic cars for a Yuletide-themed photoshoot in London.
The classic car rental company provided its beautiful red Morris Minor convertible for the big-budget photoshoot. The advertising agency wanted a red convertible car with a tan roof and Great Escape's 1971 Morris Minor convertible is the only car for hire in the UK which offers this colour combination.
Great Escape Classic Car Hire delivered the car to Hampton Hill at short notice for the all day shoot. The car was used for a romantic 'singing in the rain' scene and a shot involving a Christmas tree being delivered using the car.
"The crew were very pleased with the condition of the car," explains Graham Eason of Great Escape Classic Car Hire. "We arrived on set at 6.45am and provided a full day of support with the car. The car was washed and polished on arrival to ensure it was in perfect condition for the shoot."
Great Escape Classic Car Hire is the UK's largest classic car rental company and provides cars on a weekly basis for photoshoots and film shoots.

A Trial by Fire

Great Escape Classic Car Hire recently submitted one of its white Morris Minor Convertibles for a trial by fire to demonstrate the reliability of its fleet.
One of Classic Car Buyer magazine's classified advertising sales representatives exchanged her regular 2008 Fiat Punto for our Suffolk Morris for a week. The trial involved her using the car as her regular wheels for a working week, including commuting and attending meetings. The 1967 car passed the ordeal with flying colours - performing faultlessly without any major or minor hitches.
Although Classic Car Buyer's driver wasn't keen to swap the luxury of her modern car for the rudimentary conditions of the Morris on a long term basis, she was pleased with the attention it received and its reliability.
Great Escape Classic Car Hire delivered the car to and from the magazine's offices in Peterborough. To avoid charges of rigging we hired out the car subject to exactly the same checks we conduct for a regular hire.
"I am really pleased that a 40 year old car performed so well over such a gruelling challenge," said Graham Eason of Great Escape. "Our cars are subject to a rigorous maintenance regime and cover 5 times the average mileage of most classic cars. So high standards of reliability are important to avoid disappointing customers."
Great Escape Classic Car Hire operates the largest fleet of classic cars for hire in the UK, including a fleet of 5 Morris Minors. The company has cars for hire in Yorkshire, Suffolk, Cotswolds, Shropshire and Lincolnshire.

The One and Only

At Great Escape Classic Car Hire we got the shock of our lives when the wedding couple we chauffeured for on Saturday 30th April apeared on TV the following Monday.

Claire and Chris Lawrenson featured on the BBC's The One Show in a feature about weddings to accompany coverage of THAT Royal Wedding. The couple chose to be chauffeur driven in one of Great Escape Classic Car Hire's white Morris Minor convertibles, which also appeared on the programme (albeit fleetingly).

The wedding in Herefordshire went very smoothly, the couple loved the car and the combination of the Morris and Russ, our chauffeur, were a faultless combination.

Great Escape Classic Car Hire has four Morris Minor convertibles for hire from its sites in Yorkshire, Worcestershire, Suffolk and Lincolnshire. The fleet includes three white Morris Minors with burgundy interiors and roofs. All cars are available to hire on a self drive or chauffeur hire basis for weddings and weekends.

They like driving in our car

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor Convertible in Suffolk is in the limelight again. This time Leigh Operatic & Dramatic Society (LODS) has hired it to film a promotional video for their production of the Madness musical Our House.

80s pop sensations Madness drove a white Morris Minor Convertible in the video for their 1982 Top 10 smash Driving in my Car. This evergreen song features in the West End musical Our House so the car was an obvious choice for the Society's video. They are using the car to promote the production by filming it driving through the town.

Great Escape Classic Car Hire worked with the society to provide the car at short notice. Our car in Suffolk is one of three identical Morris Minor convertible cars that we provide for hire (the others are in Yorkshire and Worcestershire). All three cars are identical to the car used in the Driving in my Car video - white with a burgundy roof and interior

The LODS production of Our House is showing from 4th to 7th May 2011.

Morris Minor on Antiques Road Trip

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor convertible based in the East Midlands is the star of BBC2 this week. It features in the second series of BBC2's popular Antiques Road Trip programme aired 31st January to 4th February 5.15pm to 6pm.
The Antiques Road Trip production team used the Morris for filming between May and August 2010. The car was chosen because of its quirky looks, high standard of quality and bright paintwork. The car performed (almost) fautlessly over several thousand miles in the BBC's service - the only hiccups were a faulty starter motor (fixed overnight) and damage inflicted by a bus.
Great Escape Classic Car Hire worked with the production team throughout the filming to help deliver and collect the car. We also had to a work to an inevitably constantly changing schedule, coordinating our regional sites in Yorkshire, Suffolk, Dorset and Worcestershire to provide the car for the production team.

Our cars are the stars

The popular BBC2 series Antiques Road Trip is back for another gentle amble through the British countryside collecting antiques and driving some great classic cars. The series involves antiques experts touring around Britain in a variety of classic cars buying and selling antiques.
For the second year running Great Escape Classic Car Hire has provided classic cars for use in the series. This year the programme is using three Great Escape cars, including a Triumph Spitfire, Mercedes Pagoda (no longer on the fleet unfortunately) and a red Morris Minor convertible. The programme runs for 6 weeks every week day night from 3rd January. It airs from 5.15pm on BBC2.
Filming the series is a complicated task involving coordination of many different locations, cars and individuals. Great Escape Classic Car Hire worked with the production team between April and August 2010 to provide the three cars for every shoot. Due to the inevitable production changes we had to be extremely flexible and organised often complex delivery and collection logistics for the team at very short notice.
The Great Escape cars covered several thousand miles each during the shoot but proved very reliable. There were only a couple of minor issues that were resolved quickly and did not disrupt filming. However, while filming our beautiful red Morris Minor convertible was sideswiped by a bus, resulting in significant bodywork damage. Fortunately the car remained driveable and continued with filming. The incident was filmed and may appear in the series.

The Great Escape Classic Car Hire Morris Minor Convertible based in Yorkshire was recently chosen by a major high street brand to help promote its new range of childrens clothing.

Great Escape Classic Car Hire worked with the supermarket chain's agency to provide the car at very short notice. We trailered the car to London, provided a driver throughout the day to support the photoshoot and ensured the vehicle was immaculate throughout the day.
