BBC Top Gear loves the Jensen Interceptor

The BBC Top Gear television programme can be a fickle thing but when it finds something it loves, it praises it to the heavens. So it was that last night (Sunday July 24th 2011) the Jensen Interceptor found itself in the programme's radar beams as Clarkson and co doffed a floppy hat to the car of the 70s.

In a lengthy feature dedicated to the Jensen Interceptor the Top Gear team tested one of the new Jensen Interceptor S models and then created their own TV detective programme in homage to the fantastic 70s fastback, complete with fulsome moustaches. This pastiche featured three Jensen Interceptors from our friends at Cropredy Bridge garage in Banbury, who do all the fettling on Great Escape Classic Car hire's own Jensen Interceptors.

We're proud to say we've always loved the car that Jeremy Clarkson said has the best name ever put on a car - Interceptor. The Top Gear feature captured everything that is wonderful about these stylish grand tourers - the retro individualism of a car that is now so out of kilter with modern times. Our customers love it too - our two Jensen Interceptor cars are amongst the most popular hire cars on our fleet.

You can live the Clarkson dream by hiring a Jensen Interceptor in Yorkshire or Worcestershire for the Cotswolds. Prices start at £245 for 24 hours and include unlimited mileage, comprehensive insurance and full nationwide AA breakdown cover. Our cars are the stars

The popular BBC2 series Antiques Road Trip is back for another gentle amble through the British countryside collecting antiques and driving some great classic cars. The series involves antiques experts touring around Britain in a variety of classic cars buying and selling antiques.
For the second year running Great Escape Classic Car Hire has provided classic cars for use in the series. This year the programme is using three Great Escape cars, including a Triumph Spitfire, Mercedes Pagoda (no longer on the fleet unfortunately) and a red Morris Minor convertible. The programme runs for 6 weeks every week day night from 3rd January. It airs from 5.15pm on BBC2.
Filming the series is a complicated task involving coordination of many different locations, cars and individuals. Great Escape Classic Car Hire worked with the production team between April and August 2010 to provide the three cars for every shoot. Due to the inevitable production changes we had to be extremely flexible and organised often complex delivery and collection logistics for the team at very short notice.
The Great Escape cars covered several thousand miles each during the shoot but proved very reliable. There were only a couple of minor issues that were resolved quickly and did not disrupt filming. However, while filming our beautiful red Morris Minor convertible was sideswiped by a bus, resulting in significant bodywork damage. Fortunately the car remained driveable and continued with filming. The incident was filmed and may appear in the series.

Jaguar XJS on BBC Antiques Road Trip

Great Escape Classic Car Hire's popular Jaguar XJS V12 convertible features in the new series of Antiques Road Trips which is shown during the week at 6.30pm on BBC2. The series involves antiques experts driving across the UK competing to earn the most money by buying and selling antiques.
The Jaguar XJS from Great Escape Classic Car Hire is heavily featured in the Cotswolds and Dorset section of the series, which airs in late March. The car is featured heavily in the show to transport the two experts between antique shops and sale rooms across the county.
Great Escape Classic Car Hire provided the 1988 Jaguar XJS for the series during August 2009. The car performed faultlessly and provided relaxing and highly comfortable transport for the production crew and show stars.
Great Escape's cars are regularly used for TV, film and video work and have featured in recent music videos, art pieces, magazine shoots - including for OK! magazine - and film.
If you would like to trace the route of the antiques experts then you can hire the Jaguar XJS from Great Escape in Worcestershire. The company will provide details of the route to follow.
