BBC Top Gear loves the Jensen Interceptor

The BBC Top Gear television programme can be a fickle thing but when it finds something it loves, it praises it to the heavens. So it was that last night (Sunday July 24th 2011) the Jensen Interceptor found itself in the programme's radar beams as Clarkson and co doffed a floppy hat to the car of the 70s.

In a lengthy feature dedicated to the Jensen Interceptor the Top Gear team tested one of the new Jensen Interceptor S models and then created their own TV detective programme in homage to the fantastic 70s fastback, complete with fulsome moustaches. This pastiche featured three Jensen Interceptors from our friends at Cropredy Bridge garage in Banbury, who do all the fettling on Great Escape Classic Car hire's own Jensen Interceptors.

E Types proves it's retro cool

When Easy Living needed a cool 1970s convertible for its retro 70s fashion shoot the Great Escape Classic Car Hire Jaguar E Type was the obvious choice. 50 years after its launch the Jaguar E Type remains one of the most popular and beautiful classic cars of all time. And the Great Escape car's white and black colour scheme fitted the style of the photography perfectly.
The feature appears in the February 2011 issue of Easy Living and includes a series of full page fashion images shot in London last summer. We provide cars regularly for photo and film shoots so we were able to pull together a schedule and plan the logistics at very short notice to suit the magazine's tight deadline. The car was delivered to the shoot in central London with a driver who attended for several days, including an extension to the schedule which we were able to handle. The driver assisted during the shoot with moving the car into and out of shot.

Jensen Interceptor makes music again

Great Escape Classic Car Hire has provided a car for the video to R&B star McLean's forthcoming new single. The production team chose the metallic blue Jensen Interceptor because of its 1970s high rolling GT style. The car, which has a cream interior, features heavily in the video.
The latest musical outing for the Jensen is quite a contrast to its last foray into the popular music scene, when it featured in the video for folk singer songwriter Alan Pownall.
Great Escape Classic Car Hire regularly provides classic cars for static and video photoshoots across the UK. The company operates a fleet of 50 classic cars from sites in Worcestershire, Suffolk, Dorset and Yorkshire.

Jaguar XJ6 adds 1970s glamour to photoshoot

A 1974 Jaguar XJ6 saloon from Great Escape Classic Car Hire has been specially selected for a glamorous fashion shoot because of its distinctive colour scheme. The creative team from fashion label Tucker loved the Sable with green interior Jaguar XJ6 Series 2 car and decided to feature it in the photo shoot for their new catalogue.
Great Escape delivered the car to The Master Shipwright's House in Deptford, London on Easter Friday at 7am for the day-long photo shoot. The unique waterfront location was selected to suit Tucker's London-themed shoot. The Jaguar XJ6 was chosen as a typically British 1970s saloon car and the colour scheme fitted right into the period feel.
The Tucker shoot is one of several music video and static photoraphy location projects that have featured Great Escape cars in 2010.
"We have a lot of experience of working with production teams," says Graham Eason of Great Escape. "It's important to be flexible. This shoot was short notice, on a Bank Holiday and involved a very early start. But we like that kind of challenge.
"Our 1974 Jaguar XJ6 saloon has quite an unusual colour scheme, which was very fashionable in the 1970s but lost favour in the 1980s and 1990s. We think it makes the car stand out, which is what you want when you hire a car. It's great to see that the car is once again fashionable."
